Rhythm Connect aim in schools through dance is to create a fun and dynamic learning environment where all participants will feel successful.
Rhythm Connect provides dance workshops to schools and other educational institutes. These workshops create excitement, improve fitness and coordination, encourage team work and provide a sense of achievement at the same time introducing Students of all ages and Teachers to movement and dance from different cultures.
African Dancing Workshops
Rhythm Connect African dance workshops are fun, entertaining, full of cultural energy and alive with the power of the drums, dances and songs from Africa.
Workshop description
We begin with a short dynamic African dancing performance, this is inspiring for students a great way to start. Then we introduction the dance and talk about its cultural significance
Preliminary rhythm work to warm up, such as clapping /body percussion etc (a good ice breaker) followed by stretching and body isolations.
We then kick of the workshop by teach dynamic African dance movements to the students, once they have an understanding of these individual movements and can dance them confidently we join them together in sequence using drums to signal the change between steps and provide us with the traditional music for the dance.
Finishing off with a cool down using gentle stretches
